This September saw me hosting a tasting of
vintage beers from the Regional Beer Cellar. While most beers are designed to
be drunk fresh, a few beers can gain in complexity and character. The tasting
took in a range of styles from strong ales, and barley wines to spiced ales,
smoked beers and barrel aged porters. Click here to read about cellaring beers
in general.
The popular vote ended up showing a clear
preference for Chimay Grand Reserve 2006 with Emerson’s Taieri George 2010 in
second and Old 95 2010 in third.
