Fans of hoppy aromatic American beers have
never had it so good. While the world financial crisis effectively curtailed
the import of many interesting Belgian and English beers a new supply line of
American beers out of California has meant
that the Regional shelves are groaning under the weight of interesting, complex
and aromatic beers from the craft brewers of America.
Pale and Interesting
American craft brewers are known for their
generous use of aromatic hops to create stunning Pale Ales, India Pale Ales,
and excessively indulgent Imperial India Pale Ales. Unsurprisingly these styles
are well represented in our current American range with Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
and Anniversary Ale representing the American Pale Ale or APA style, Sierra
Nevada Torpedo, Celebration Ale, Deshcutes Inversion and Bear Republic Racer 5
representing the American India Pale Ale style. At the top end of the pale ale
family lays the American invented style of Imperial India Pale Ale also known
as Double India Pale Ale currently at Regional we have Lagunitas Hop Stoopid,
and Flying Dog Double Dog.
Beyond the Pale
The American craft brewing world offers
more than just heavily hopped pale ale. American brewers produce some of the
most diverse and original beers on earth. Currently on the shelves we have a
smoked porter (Alaskan Smoked Porter), three dark ales (Sierra Nevada Porter,
Stout and Anchor Porter) a traditionally fermented English style best bitter
(Firestone Walker DBA) a Helles bock (Sierra Nevada Glissade), a Hefewiezen
(Sierra Nevada Kellerwies), a Strong American Amber Ale (Green Flash Hophead
Red), a Belgian style Tripel (Flying Dog Kerberos) an Imperial Porter (Flying
Dog Gonzo) and two Barley Wines (Sierra Nevada Big Foot, Flying Dog Horndog).
And that’s just what we have right now
another shipment is due in May with the range of beers on offer expected to
grow even more!
Cheers
