Originally brewed in 1968 to mark the anniversary of Thomas Hardy’s Death and the refurbishment of the Trumpet Major Pub Thomas Hardy’s Ale is the classic English barleywine. Vintage dated and designed to be laid down Hardy’s Ale is rich and full bodied when young but develops fortified wine notes as it ages. Old examples often bear a strong resemblance to Madeira or Sherry. The perfect accompaniment to a strong blue cheese and a little dried fruit.
