Henry Lyons

Henry’s family have been grape growers for over a decade, owning the ‘Hillside’ vineyard, supplying Syrah for Brookfields. Henry has followed the family into all aspects of wine, working in contract gangs in vineyards to kitchen work at winery restaurants and cellar door duties, discussing and selling wine to visitors. Since coming to Wellington to study, Henry has continued his interest in wine at Regional Wines, working with it in retail and attending tastings. His fascination with Hawke’s Bay continues, and his favourite wines are Ngatarawa ‘Alwyn’ Chardonnay, Craggy Range Viognier and Church Road Syrah. However, Henry’s curiosity and wine enjoyment has been stirred by the number of abundant, flavoursome Cotes-du-Rhone reds that Regional stocks. This year, Henry took up writing the wine column in the Vic Uni student’s magazine ‘Salient’ (click here to visit).
