The violet is one of the first flowers to herald the Spring. Its fragrance is so easily recognised that every year it is easy to reactivate one’s olfactory memory. Common throughout temperate Europe, it was already mentioned by Hippocrates. It is reputed for its treatment of the respiratory tract due to the saponines and alkaloids it retains and gives it its emollient and expectorant properties. The amethyst blue, sweet and delicate essence of violet is extracted from the flower. Liqueur de Violette is served pure on ice or with a sparkling white wine or in a cocktail. It can also be used for flavouring your cakes and sorbets. With Liqueur de Violette, all kinds of fantasy are permitted... but always iced. Try it with 9/10 champagne brut for 1/10 Liqueur de Violette. For a delicious cocktail, mix 7/10 Liqueur de Violette with 3/10 Vodka and top with fresh cream. Use it for pouring over your ice creams or serve as a digestif, pure and iced in a frosted brandy glass.
