Bunnahabhain Signat 1997 Peated Ucf 46%

Peat is a little like hops – some drinkers think it should complement the malt, others just say more is better. This Bunnie is all about balance. It’s a ghostly whisky, all ether and ectoplasm. The nose shows strong influence of peat smoke, with an earthiness that leads into aftershave on freshly soaped skin, some camp fire smoke, with a hint of vanilla, nuts, shortbread and nougat. The finish is medium length, showing good clarity of smoke flavours, burnt embers on top of dried fruit, chocolate and orange. (I’m rather proud of that tasting note…)  

Drink with: Ginger ale (just joking)…try it neat with shortbread, dried fruits, nuts and chocolate
