Score 8.12 Sticky oily nose, golden syrup, sherry, caramel, brandy butter on Xmas pudding, rubber, rich, a touch of apple, old Springbank, old selotape, aeroplanes, paint stripper, linseed, crunchie bar, sour apple, phenolanoline. Very good palate, honey cured bacon, smooth, pork crackling, succulent, hint of sulphur, ashtray, classic tweed, old cigars, good alcohol marriage. Sweet smokey finish, sugary, citus hint,grand marnier, grapefruit, med/long.  DMM July 10

“The nose is very rich and curious. There are notes of coal gas, salt, cedar, honey and vanilla cream. A little caramel and toffee, and a nutty, oily note. The palate is very rich and spiced with notes of crisp orchard fruits, anise and cream. The finish is long and gently sherried with a faint herbal note.” – The Master of Malt. Awarded 95 points by Jim Murray. Voted the Best Single Malt in the 2008 World Whisky Awards.
