Eradus Pinot Gris As Hot As Their Sauvignon Blanc

Many of Regional’s clients will have discovered the delights of Michiel Eradus’s Awatere Sauvignon Blanc. His third release, the 2008 has been his most successful, a multi gold medal winner, the previous two vintages also Air N.Z. Wine Awards gold medal winners. This Eradus Pinot Gris 2008 is the first release of this varietal from his ‘Breloft’ vineyard in the Awatere Valley, and it’s a superb effort, as can be expected from the successes of his Sauvignon Blanc. At 13.0% alc, and 5.5 g/l residual sugar, this is a crisp, dry style that has concentrated flavours of pears, dried apricots, florals and honeysuckle along with a minerality as seen in the best European Pinot Grigio styles. Make no mistake, this is 100% Awatere through and through, but with a European drive behind it.
