Gisborne Chardonnay Tops Bragato Awards

Gisborne has shown yet again that it deserves the title of 'Chardonnay Capital' of New Zealand, the Villa Maria Reserve Gisborne Chardonnay 2007 being awarded Champion Wine of the Show at the 2009 Bragato Wine Awards.
The Bragato Wine Awards recognises New Zealands grape growers and special vineyards. In essence the wine judging points the way to 'terroir' in this country. The grapes for the Champion Wine was grown by Tony Green of McDiarmid Vineyard in Gisborne. Chairman of Judges Larry McKenna said "This is a fantastic example of a modern New Zealand Chardonnay with both complexity and depth". Regional Wines will be obtaining this wine soon.....
