It's a little known fact that John Lennon was a huge Riesling fan (which is why he spent so long in Germany in the early sixties). We have recently uncovered the lyric to a long lost song written by Lennon while he was heavily under the influence of a Trockenbeerenauslese.
In a little token of our thanks and recognition of the efforts of Duncan Forsyth from Mt Edward Wines and Angela Clifford (she manages the promo and marketing for Riesling wonderland, Waipara Valley) who have done such a great job organising and promoting the Summer of Riesling, here is Lennon's song, published for the very first time
John Lennon’s
‘Imagine (all the Rieslings)’
Everybody’s talkin’ ‘bout
Auburn,
Lowburn, Peregrine, Framingham
Spatlese, Auslese, Happy days
All we are saying is give Riesling a chance
All we are saying is give Riesling a chance
(c’mon)
Everybody’s talkin’ bout
Watervale, schist and shale, sweetness scale,
peacocks tail
Site specific, tastes terrific, you gotta get with
it
All we are saying is give Riesling a chance
All we are saying is give Riesling a chance
(Let me tell you now)
Everybody’s talkin’ ‘bout
Niederberg, Braunenberg, what's the word? Clifford, Mt Edward
Revolution evolution, soil’s contribution
All we are saying is give Riesling a chance
All we are saying is give Riesling a chance
Everybody’s talkin’ ‘bout
White wine from the Rhine,
super fine, lemon and lime, give it time
Bendigo, Paul Grieco, it’s the go!
All we are saying is give Riesling a chance
All we are saying is give Riesling a chance
All we are saying is give Riesling a chance
All we are saying is give Riesling a chance
(Repeat until the wine runs out)
