The trophy winners of the 2010 Royal Easter Show Wine Awards were
announced at the official trophy dinner, held night at the ASB Showgrounds on
the night of Saturday 20 March. The
Champion Wine of the Show went to the 2008 Mondillo Pinot Noir from the Bendigo region of Central Otago. Domenec and Ally are no strangers to success
for their Pinot Noir, and this award has proven timely as Domenec moves on from
18 years viticultural work with Gibbston Valley Wines to concentrate on his own
label. The Mondillos’ winemaker, Rudi
Bauer, was awarded Winemaker of the Year, and this just adds to his recent
international recognition as one of the world’s top winemakers.
Regional Wines is conducting a Masterclass of the trophy
winning wines, 1.00 – 3.00 pm on Saturday 10 April. Bookings are advised if you wish to
