BEAURENARD CHATEAUNEUF BLANC 07

Beaurenard Chateauneuf Blanc 07

$67.55 750 MLS

Beaurenard Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc 2007

13.5% alc, approx. 30% Clairette, 25% Roussanne, 25% Bourboulenc, up to 20% Grenache Blanc, plus Picpoul and Picardin, grown in cooler sites and on lighter soils. Mainly SS, around 15% old vines fermented in oak of which one third is new. Pale straw yellow with a very youthful pale edge to the colour. Fullish, quite solid nose with stonefruit, floral and apricot kernel aromas, not stolid, but fresh with perfumes and aromas of herbs. Dry, this is full-bodied with freshness and excellent acidity. Flavours of herbs and flowers show, with white stonefruits. This has zip, liveliness and a steely mineral note too. Medium long on the finish, and very attractive. My score 18.0-/20  RC May 08

Easter weekend I flew up to Auckland and had a great time visiting family. I made sure I went to Maison Vauron, a must if you enjoy French wines and also Galbraiths to try a few craft beers.

Roast Chicken for dinner evidently. Which Kumeu River Chardy shall I choose?
