Beaurenard Chateauneuf
du Pape Blanc 2007
13.5% alc, approx. 30% Clairette, 25% Roussanne, 25%
Bourboulenc, up to 20% Grenache Blanc, plus Picpoul and Picardin, grown in
cooler sites and on lighter soils.
Mainly SS, around 15% old vines fermented in oak of which one third is
new. Pale straw yellow with a very
youthful pale edge to the colour.
Fullish, quite solid nose with stonefruit, floral and apricot kernel
aromas, not stolid, but fresh with perfumes and aromas of herbs. Dry, this is full-bodied with freshness and
excellent acidity. Flavours of herbs and
flowers show, with white stonefruits.
This has zip, liveliness and a steely mineral note too. Medium long on the finish, and very
attractive. My score 18.0-/20 RC May 08
