Bouchard Ainé Echezeaux Grand Cru 2004
13.5% alc, 17 months in 40% new oak, vines over 55 y.o., 75 cases made. From the large 37.7 ha grand cru upslope and north of Grands Echezeaux. Ruby red colour, a little lighter on edge. Fresh, bright berryish fruit with a fine firmness to the bouquet. The palate has bright, fresh, ripe berry fruit flavours, lush and rich. There is a slight herb component adding interest. Excellent acidity adds to the freshness. The extraction has given a solid and firm wine. A wine that will keep well. My score 18.5+/20 RC March 07
