This Sauvignon Blanc pays homage to the variety’s spiritual homeland, Sancerre in the upper reaches of France’s Loire Valley. From there, the highly respected family of Henri Bourgeois with ten generations of winemaking set up Clos Henri in Marlborough to make New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc with French pedigree. The Greywacke soils result on a softer, refined style with peaches, limes and minerals and fruit from clay soils give breadth and richness. Partial barrel fermentation and lees stirring has provided subtle smoky complexities. Sheer class and a superb Sauvignon Blanc of international standing.  Top 30 09
