Made from 85% Sangiovese, 10% Merlot and the rest other red varieties, the vines 15-20 years old,grown in the Vinci and Cerreto Guidi hills, this was stainless steel fermented at 28°C to retain vibrant fruitiness, reaching 13.0% alc. A small portion of the wine was aged in new and seasoned oak casks for 6 months. Youthful in appearance with a full, deep, purple black red colour, this had a beautifully perfumed and aromatic nose with black cherry fruits complexed by spice elements. Full-flavoured, but in actuality medium-light weighted, this has fresh, lively cherry and pepper notes, with a touch of oak lift. The palate has balanced tannins and proportions, and will be a great little fruit-driven red with antipasto, all pasta and most red meat dishes over the next 3-4 years. RC June 10
