Drouhin Batard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2007 (19.0+/20), at 13.5% alc, not domaine fruit, the wine aged 12-15 months in 25% new oak. Brilliant, limpid straw yellow in colour, this was full but very finely expressed on bouquet, with gorgeous peaches and cream aromas, laced with nuts and spicy, sweet oak interlaced perfectly with the fruit. Very rich and mouthfilling in flavour, there were tropical fruits, mineral, nuts and steel, all nuanced and subtly expressed, resulting in a wine of sheer finesse. Lovely tension from the acidity, and beautifully proportioned. Superbly balanced between richness and finesse. This will live a decade plus easily. RC June 10
