Konrad Ries Noble Two Sigrun 08 375Ml

Konrad ’Sigrun Noble Two’ Riesling/Sauvignon Blanc 2008 (18.5+/20), at 10% alc, around 200 g/L rs, is a blend of 58% Riesling and 42% Sauvignon Blanc from the Waihopi Valley, the SB component was barrel fermented. Bright light golden straw yellow in colour, the bouquet combined honey, marmalade, limes and florals, all with depth and concentration. A touch of VA noticeable too. Very sweet on palate, there were honey, citrus and marmalade flavours, still tight and a little narrowed, yet lush and rich, though moderated by the good racy acidity. This should develop well over the next 5-6 years.  RC June 10

It’s quite rare for a single dessert wine to have such a following at Regional, given the large range of wines we have and the relatively small volume we sell. But there’s something about the sheer decadence of the Konrad Noble – everyone who tries it becomes a convert, and at the price it fits nicely into the budget as a regular treat. It’s got lashings of apricot, honey and marmalade, coupled with the freshness that is the hallmark of great stickies. It’s the perfect way to finish a meal, or even begin one for the more daring entertainer. Top 30 2010 AC
