Loosen Urziger Wurzgarten Riesling Auslese ‘Goldcap’ 2007 (19.5/20), at 7.0% alc. Pale straw yellow in colour, this was elegant in expression, surprisingly so for Wurzgarten, yet definably so with its spices and red earth aromatics. Here the clarity of fruit, site and honied botrytis was a highlight. Absolutely stunning, Very sweet on palate, the finesse and clarity was apparent again. Very clean and pure, with great refinement and balance. A wine of great poise that will cellar and develop over the next 15 years.  RC/SD Sept 09
