Louis Roederer Champagne Blanc de Blancs 2003 (18.5/20), at 12.0% alc, 100% Ch, 60 months on lees. Very pale straw coloured with green hues. Very fresh and steely on nose with apples, florals, piercing white Stonefruit aromatics and mineral notes. Dry on palate, crisp and steely, showing mineral and white flowers. Very, very fine featured with excellent mousse. A wine of great delicacy and refinement. Subtle autolysis expression. Needs 3-4 years to come out, then will live 8-10 more. RC July 10

Very fresh, exuding graphite and pencil shavings aromas followed by ripe peach, grapefruit and mineral notes. It’s vinous in character, with a vibrant structure and long finish. A terrific 2003. Drink now through 2020. 92 Points Wine Spectator
