Lustau ‘San Emilio’ Pedro Ximinez (19.0-/20) was full, dark, deep black-hued
mahogany in colour and the nose exuded decadence with raisins, sultanas and
figs as well as a coffee element. Very
rich and sweet, the palate echoed the nose, and was soft, unctuous and
seamless, flowing through the palate to the long finish. RC July 10
Dessert sherry that is made from one
of the blending varieties to add richness to the likes of cream sherry, but
bottled on its own accord. This is ultra rich and decadent, with extreme
viscosity. Dark raisins and sultanas in flavour, this will easily handle
chocolate. Many sherry aficionados recommend it drizzled over ice
cream! RC April 08
Fig; Dark Chocolate and
Almond Sweetmeat with Honeyed Cream - The Lustau ‘San Emilio’ Pedre Ximinez (18.5-/20) was heady, heavy,
decadent and thick. Able to be poured
over ice cream, the dark chocolate was the focus for this wine. The concentration and density of the
chocolate was a difficult aspect for the wine to come to match, so the jury was
out on how this worked. RC April 08
The raisiny, grapey
Lustau ‘Solera Reserva – San Emilio’ Pedro
Ximinez (my score 18.0+/20) is
not as heavy and rich as it has been in the past. It now includes more young
material, as well as a moderate 17% alcohol. RC May 07
