Mt Difficulty ‘Target
Gully’ Riesling 2009 (18.0+/20), at 9.5% alc, fruit from the Target Gully
site, stop fermented at 35 g/L rs. Very
pale straw yellow in colour, this had beautiful lime and floral aromas lifted
with honey and exotic botrytis nuances.
Medium in sweetness, this was still very tightly bound, but showed
wonderful lime and honey flavours on palate with very fine acid cut. This was still shy, but the potential was
very clear. 6-8 years ahead. RC Sept 10
Mt Difficulty ‘Target Gully’ Central Otago Riesling
2009 (18.5+/20), at 9.5% alc and 35 g/l rs, fruit
from the Target Gully vineyard. Pale
straw yellow in colour, this had a very tight and intense nose of minerals,
steel and florals with some honied elements.
Medium in sweetness, the palate had beautiful florals with honey
elements and a steely, acidic edge. The
sweetness adds richness, but is in balance with the fruit and acidity and in no
way cloys the palate. The wine has very
attractive toasty nuances on the finish. RC Apr 10
