Pask Cab/Mer/Malbec Gimblett 07

CJ Pask ‘Gimblett Road’ Cabernet/Merlot/Malbec 2007 (18.5/20), at 14.0% alc is a blend of each varietal fermented and aged separately. Overall the wine was in oak approximately 14 months. Deep ruby red in colour, with garnet hues, this has a very fresh and aromatic blackcurranty, cassis, Cabernet Sauvignon influenced bouquet, vibrant and primary. On palate the wine has excellent balance, with the lively blackcurrant and dark plum flavours supported by lively acidity and fine, moderately extracted tannins. There is richness allied to an elegance of style, resulting in a very accessible wine that will keep 5-7 years by way of its proportion.  RC May 10
