Produttori del Barbaresco Riserva ‘Montefico’ 2005 (19.0+/20), known as ‘The Academic’, from a south facing 2.7 ha site. Very even garnet coloured, this possessed a beautifully pure, refined nose of florals, slightly lifted by VA, which tends to fade. On palate, a wine of great refinement and sheer class, with very tightly bound, super-fine grained extraction. This has wonderful floral notes that will become ethereal with time in bottle. This will age 15-20 years without reservation. 830 cases made.  RC June 10

Sweet roses blossom on the palate, followed by succulent ripe raspberries, mint and baking spices.
