Sacred Hill ‘Riflemans’
Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2007 (19.5-/20), at 14.0% alc, with 2.28 g/l rs,
fruit from the ‘Riflemans’ Dartmoor vineyard on red metal soils, indigenous
yeast fermented and aged 12 months in new and 1 y.o. French oak. Straw yellow with gold hues, this was very
elegantly expressed on nose with intense, but stylish mealy, grapefruit aromas
with tight oak backing. Supremely
elegant, the intense mealy fruit and nutty, toasty oak unfolded its layers
laced with rich complexities. Possessing
power, yet finesse and cut, this carried great presence and fine mouthfilling
flavours with finesse. RC Apr 10
