Our aspiration is to create a unique single vineyard pinot noir of elegance and finesse, reflecting our exceptional Central Otago site, with its distinctive seasonal influences. We are committed to quality in vineyard planting, viticulture and winemaking to consistently produce superior pinot noir.

Prominent New Zealand winemaker Dean Shaw of the Central Otago Wine Company produced the first Surveyor Thomson Pinot Noir in 2003. Dean has worked many vintages in Burgundy under the guidance of master French vintners, and has developed a reputation for producing pinot noir with as little intervention as possible, creating wines that are a true expression of Central Otago's climate and landscape.
The focus of Surveyor Thomson Wines is to create a sense of place with its own unique pinot noir from its Lowburn site. Dean's 'hands off' approach ensures that our wine reflects our terroir. Our wine is aged in French Oak barrels to achieve a supple and well balanced pinot noir.
