Savoury, complex, earthy and interesting was the Yalumba ‘Hand-Picked’ ‘Tri-Centenary’ Grenache 2003 (17.5+/20). However a drying palate lent an austerity, though there was excellent concentration. Made from vines planted in 1889. RC June 08
Yalumba ‘Hand Picked’ ‘Tricentenary’ Grenache 2003: Made from vines 114 y.o. Ruby red colour with a touch of garnet on edge. Savoury, gamey nose, Meaty and earthy, very complex, with more than a passing resemblance to Chateauneuf. Earthy and gamey in flavour profile, the extraction is serious and drying with some austerity as a result. A wine to go with food, and it will do so very well. 18.0/20 RC May 07
