LIME HILL PINOT NOIR WAIRARAPA 17

LIME HILL PINOT NOIR WAIRARAPA 17

Lime Hill is a new collaboration between Raphael Burki and Karl Heinz Johner of Johner Estate who have been working together in the wine industry since 2009. After searching for the perfect spot to grow Pinot, they discovered a gorgeous hillside in the Wairarapa which faces north-west and with a soil composition identical to Burgundy where the worlds most famous Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are grown. A high content of limestone and a small top layer of clay make this the ideal spot for fine Pinot.

100% hand picked, maceration and fermentation on skins for 3 weeks with 20% whole bunch. Maturation on fine lees in french oak barrels (20% new) for 12 month. This wine has been bottled without any filtration or fining process.

Moderate ruby red in colour with red fruit, red cherry, ripe raspberries, fine chalky tannins.
