Rippon's vines are situated in an idyllic spot on the shores of Lake Wanaka in Central Otago on a farm that has been cared for by four generations of the Mills family since 1912. Rolfe and Lois Mills planted Rippon's first experimental vines in the 1970s and, with that, helped pave the way for the Central Otago region as we know it today.

The site really is something special. Its close proximity to the Main Divide range of mountains in the Southern Alps that separates the west and east coasts, and the huge body of water that is Lake Wanaka, offer a relatively temperate climate compared to the rest of Central Otago. The soil is a mineral-rich tapestry of schist and quartzite deposited as glacial moraines, coarse layered gravels, ancient lake bed clays and wind-blown loess. Biodynamic farming and vines on their own roots, deep in these schist soils, create wines that speak of this remarkable farm.

Join winemaker Nick Mills as he takes us through recent releases, with a lineup of wines that are turning heads and scoring high marks from the critics.
