TE KAIRANGA CHARDONNAY ESTATE 18

TE KAIRANGA CHARDONNAY ESTATE 18

Under the direction of Chief Winemaker, John Kavanagh, the Te Kairanga winemaking philosophy places a premium on the character of the site. The 2018 Chardonnay comprises handpicked fruit from the Home (60%) and Spring Rock Vineyards (37.5%), predominantly of clones Mendoza, 95, and 6, with each block and clone vinified separately. Gently whole-bunch pressed, the resulting juice is barrel fermented and aged for 10 months in French oak, (18% in new French oak puncheons, 500L) to add structure, and balanced integration of oak character. The wine goes through malolactic fermentation, providing subtle creaminess and texture whilst maintaining elegance with a wonderful acidity.

Refined complex aromas of fine white peach, floral notes, and hazelnuts provide a
deep nose. Flavours of yellow peach give depth to the elegant palate with a long
finish.
