KUMEU VILLAGE PINOT NOIR 19
Kumeu Village Pinot Noir is a blend of grapes grown in West Auckland and Hawke's Bay and is a fresh, bright and fruity young red from the 2019 vintage, which was one of high quality throughout the North Island and many other New Zealand wine regions.
This wine blends grapes from both regions because the quality of fruit from the 2019 vintage exceeded expectations and worked well with grapes grown on Rays Road Vineyard in Hawke's Bay; a vineyard that was purchased in April 2017, already planted in grapes. This wine provided an opportunity to blend grapes from both regions to create the best entry level Pinot possible.
Kumeu River Wines began life as San Marino Wines in 1944 when Croatian immigrant couple, Mick and Katé Brajkovich, bought a small property with a vineyard on it. Their descendents now own and run Kumeu River Wines, which produces 250,000 bottles of wine annually from its owns 30 hectares of vineyards in Kumeu and from another 10 hectares, owned by local grape growers.
