GREYSTONE SYRAH NORTH CANTERBURY 16
Syrah is one of the least planted grapes in North Canterbury but a couple of wineries there are doing a superlative job with this late ripener, due to the region's hot summer and long dry autumns. This wine is elegant, bold and spicy - and certified organic.
Greystone Winery in North Canterbury produces a wide range of exceptionally high quality wines with affordable price tags and, now, full organic certification across 100% of the range.
The viticultural and winemaking team began the conversion from conventional to organic grape growing in 2014 and, by 2018, their entire 33-hectare vineyard was certified organic with BioGro New Zealand. Organic production for them means harnessing biodiversity and natural ecological cycles as an alternative to using man made chemicals to enhance plant growth.
