AUDOIN MARSANNAY CLOS DU ROY 15
From a long line of wine growers passing down from father to son, Charles Audoin took over the family property in 1972 with his wife Marie Francoise. Charles’ son Cyril joined his father in 2000 and is now responsible for the vines and winemaking. Located within the commune of Marsannay La Cote, the domaine stretches over almost 35 acres, and the diversity of soils and grapes makes it possible to produce a range of fourteen different wines.
Clos du Roy is the northern most lieu-dit of Marsannay, and the relatively steep south-east facing vineyard sits above the town of Chenove. Soils here are light red with an element of sand, sitting atop a bedrock of hard limestone. Wines from Clos du Roy can be more elegant, aromatic, and approachable.

"The 2015 Marsannay Clos du Roy is superb, unfurling in the glass with a youthful bouquet of ripe cherries, currants and incipient forest floor. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, ample and pure, with lovely depth and concentration, framed by fine, chalky tannins which assert themselves with light grip on the finish. This merits some time in the cellar, but it's an absolutely stellar Marsannay. Drink 2020-2035"
