BAGLIO GIBELLINA PASSIMIENTO NERO D' AVOLA FRAPPATO 20
Sicily is a hot bed of indigenous grape varieties and ancient winemaking techniques, such as this gorgeous dark, full bodied dry red blend shows.
It's made from 70% of the island's most planted red grape, Nero d'Avola, blended 30% Frappato 30%. Both were grown on hillside vineyards between 300 to 600 meters above sea level on clay soil. The Frappato was harvested relatively early to retain its red fruit freshness and then fermented in stainless steel while the Nero d’Avola was left on the vines to naturally dehydrate in the heat. It was late harvested and fermented separately then the two ferments were blended and matured in stainless steel tanks.
It's a rich dark dry red with intense concentration of flavour and impressive weight, structure and length.
This wine over delivers hugely for its humble price.
