CARLIN DE PAOLO BARBERA D'ASTI DOCG 20
Barbera is infamously known as the high volume work horse red grape of Piemonte, the great wine region in north west Italy. As such, it is often regarded as the lowly country cousin of the region’s top red, Nebbiolo, but this is not the full story. Refreshing flavours of red currants are underpinned by juicy acidity that stretches out the flavours in this lively red wine to a lingering finish.
There’s very little Barbera in New Zealand and this is a lovely example, offering great value for money.
