Clemens Busch is named after Clemens and Rita Busch, biodynamic wine producers who own the Marienburg vineyards of Punderich on the Mosel River. The Marienburg vineyard in the Middle Mosel is planted on the grey slate which is typical of the region and renowned for producing fresha Rieslings of depth, length and potentially great longevity.

About the producer

Clemens Busch has questioned the use of herbicides and man made chemicals since he first began making wine in the 1970s. So, when he and his wife Rita inherited his parents vineyards and winery in 1984, it was a natural opportunity to put his thoughts into action, which he has since become famous for doing on the hallowed south west facing hillside vineyard that he tends in the lower Mosel. The couple now own 16 hectares of the 25 that makes up the great single vineyard hillside site of Marienburg.

Single plot ferments with wild yeasts in old 1000 litre barrels define all the wines that Clemens makes from the grey slate, red slate and blue slate soils.

These wines are highly regarded, pure expressions of one of the world's great slices of wine real estate in Riesling's classic, traditional, spiritual home, the Mosel in Germany.
