COLERE PINOT NOIR 2015
Winemaker Julian Richards sources grapes from different regions to make wines for his Colere brand and this Nelson Pinot Noir is made from hand harvested grapes with a high proportion of whole bunch fermentation, which went through a wild yeast fermentation and was then given punch downs by hand (aka pigeage) twice daily. It was pressed straight to barrel and left on high solids for 12 months in 25% new French oak barriques before being racked and returned to older barrels for an extra six months maturation.
The wine is dry and savoury with earthy flavours, a medium body and a long finish.
