BILLAUD SIMON LES PREUSES GRAND CRU CHABLIS 16
94 points James Suckling
Impressive depth. The nose delivers an array of exotic fruits such as mangoes, pawpaw and nectarines. On the palate, it is all about the bracing acidity and pure stony minerals, underpinning vibrant powerful fruit. A long finish. Drink or hold. (8/2018)

Medium yellow. In a rather virile style for Les Preuses, offering scents of spices, herbs and caraway seed. Seriously concentrated and saline but quite tight in the early going, with notes of spices and flowers providing inner-mouth lift. The acidity here is only 3.88 grams per liter but this very dry, imploded, low-fat wine has no shortage of tension. The firm-edged finish displays excellent dusty persistence. This will need aging. Grand cru Chablis, worthy of cellaring for several years. An excellent high end Chardonnay.
"Light yellow in colour with golden reflections. The nose is rich yet delicate with mineral, creamy, floral and slightly iodized notes combined with a touch of honey and dried fruits. The palate reveals a direct attack and a powerful, well-honed and distinctive mid-palate. This wine offers a remarkable reflection of its clay terroir. Aromas of citrus blend harmoniously with mineral and iodized notes from its outstanding terroir."
