KUMEU RIVER PINOT NOIR RAYS ROAD 18
Hand picked, destemmed Pinot Noir grapes were lightly crushed then fermented with wild yeast in stainless steel followed by 12 months maturation in seasoned French oak barrels. All of the grapes in this wine come from Rays Road Vineyard in Hawke's Bay, which is dry farmed and planted on a limestone hillside at 180 metres above sea level with a northerly aspect.
This wine is supple, silky and medium bodied with fresh red fruit flavours and spice, making good drinking now and a wine with the ability to age for the next four to five years.
The Rays Road Vineyard is planted in a variety of different Pinot Noir clones and was originally a joint venture between Trinity Hill Wines and Pascal Jolivet from Pouilly-Fumé in the Loire Valley, France. Kumeu River Wines bought the vineyard in 2017.
