LALLIER BLANC DE BLANC 750ML
This lovely creamy, dry and full bodied Lallier Blanc de Blancs is made from 100% Chardonnay. Using Chardonnay provides all those deliciously recognisable smooth and soft notes of fresh pastry, sourdough and butter on a Saturday morning (now there's a thought).
The chef de cave (winemaker) at Champagne Lallier ferments the Chardonnay grapes with Lallier yeasts and later blends 12% reserve wines which have been aged on tirage (yeast lees) for 36 to 48 months. The wine then undergoes secondary fermentation in bottle and is finished with a dosage of 9 grams per litre. The style is dry, creamy, fresh and full bodied with funky sourdough notes adding depth and complexity.
Champagne Lallier is our house champagne here at Regional Wines, which is the only place you will find it in Wellington and the North Island, with the notable exception of our sister store, the Hamilton Beer & Wine Co. Our store owners import this wine and this keeps its price incredibly modest.
Talk about a champagne that punches above its price - big time. Buy it and see.
About Champagne Lallier
Lallier was founded in 1906 by René Lallier, whose family owned and ran it until the company was purchased in 2004 by winemaker Francis Tibaut, who had worked for the family for many years and had a passion for these wines.
Tibaut purchased Lallier and he has now sold the company to Campari.
Lallier owns approximately 15 hectares of vineyards, mostly Grand Cru and mostly around the village of Ay, one of the Champagne region's key villages.
All Lallier champagnes are made solely from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes. Production is 400,000 bottles annually.
* The letter R is for recolté, the French word for year.
