MASTROBERARDINO AGLIANICO IRPINIA 19
We love this wine's quintessential Italianesqueness; it's made from Aglianico, one the great red grapes and wines of southern Italy. Aglianico is known for its smoky red fruit flavours and its silky core, its bold and powerfully smooth tannins and its ability to age. And if anyone can shine the light on all of these delicious flavours and more, it's the Mastroberardino family, who own about 250 hectares of vines in Irpinia, in the heart of Campania, inland from Naples.
This area is home to the Aglianico grape variety and this family has done more to revive its historical fortunes than any other.
If you're an Italian wine lover or anyone who enjoys a great red, try out this exceptionally elegant take on southern Italy's modern but classical wine scene.
