OLD HOKONUI MANUKA SMOKED SPIRIT 375ML

OLD HOKONUI MANUKA SMOKED SPIRIT 375ML

The illicit distillation of alcohol began on Southland's rugged coast as early as 1836, but it was the Scottish McRae clan who settled in the bush-clad Hokonui Hills in the early 1870's that gave southern spirit it's legendary status.

Many followed, and during 50 plus years of localised prohibition in Southland, illicit spirit of variable quality was produced (far from the watchful eye of Police and Customs) by both skilled and unskilled distillers.

OLD HOKONUI is a grain spirit from Southland.  In time-honoured fashion it has been distilled from a peat and manuka smoked barley wash prepared by Steve Nally of Invercargill Brewery and finished with spiring water from Grumpy Grant's property in the Hokonui Hills.
