Swartland is a wine region only an hour north of Cape Town which has been integral in propelling South Africa onto the world wine stage.

Swartland, with many hectares of very old bush vines, was ‘re-discovered’ as a premium wine region by Charles Back and Eben Sadie in the mid 1990s.  The success of this region has been in no small part due to the establishment of a group of like-minded winemakers known as the Swartland Independent Producers. The founding group (Marc Kent, Adi Badenhorst, Eben Sadie, Andrea and Chris Mullineux) held an annual event known as the Swartland Revolution and also promoted their and other Swartland wines in London annually.
