This Riesling is made from grapes grown on the Reiterpfad, Kalkofen and Kieselberg vineyards and was vinified 50/50 in a combination of large oak barrels and stainless steel tanks with wild yeast. Flavours span the gamut of lime zest, spice and ripe mandarin with a full body, savoury earthy notes from the oak influence and freshness kicking in on the long finish.
A very special wine for now or the long term.

Von Winning is one of Germany’s greatest modern wineries and tops the shortlist of the world’s best dry Riesling producers. Ungeheuer is an old vineyard and this wine is often described as 'out there', due to 18 months aging in barrel which demands the attention of those who love textural, rich, full bodied Rieslings, but, in this case, also made in a bone dry style. The centuries old Ungeheuer Vineyard is famous for wines that became the muse of both Goethe and Otto Von Bismarck, who famously called the 1873 vintage monstrously good.

This dry Riesling is a GG, which is short for Grosses Gewächs, a category that describes the zenith of powerful, bone dry, highly textural Rieslings.

Here is a wine that will leave its mark on your memory for years to come.
