Unit price perSpirit of the Bear is part of a trio of Travel Retail market releases from Highland Park in 2018. This is a no-age-statement single malt that was matured in sherry seasoned American oak casks, and bottled at 40% ABV. We assume that the bear-based spirit which the name refers to is that of the strong, noble type that Vikings saw in the creature, rather than the picnic basket stealing and fedora hat wearing spirit we know bears for today.
Nose: Peat is up-front, though swiftly moves on to brioche dipped in coffee and fresh honey.
Palate: Orange peel and stem ginger. Still enjoyably smoky, though now with hints of floral barley in tow.
Finish: Sandalwood and vanilla malt.
Bright and lively with a myriad of fruit flavours, the herbal frehness of Teaninich rolls into the delicious dessert intensity of Oloroso and Pedro Ximinez sherries with a hint of anise. The beautifully balanced blend of rasin fruits and spicy oak makes it all quite singular. If zing is your thing then this dram is king.

Unit price perNose - There is a lot of typical Kavalan nuts, vanilla and honey but then comes this beautiful sweet smoky sea air with stewed apples, pears, pineapples and thick raspberry jam. It has the signature Kavalan tropical fruit notes, but they are hidden under a thick smoke and vanilla scent.

Unit price perNew Zealand made single malt whiskey, 6 years of aging in old Manuka honey mead barrels.
The result speaks for itself in a very gentle easy to drink whiskey.
This small batch single malt is one of only a few true honey malt whiskeys produced in the world today. It all started in 1998 in a rural Golden Bay shed where WAITUI WHISKEY was born, distilled from a malt mash, then aged in French oak honey mead wine barrels, and finally balanced with the ancient waters of the Te Waikoropupu aquifer resulting in a distinctive single malt honey whiskey. Only small batches of the ?Waitui Malt Whiskey? are produced then hand bottled and labelled ready for sale.
Waitui Manuka Honey Malt Whiskey goes back to the first age whiskeys made by monks that brewed honey mead and drank ale. Distilling in the United Kingdom first arrived around 500AD. Back then they had no sherry or bourbon barrels, but they did have honey mead barrels. They also made barley beer or malt mash which is the starting point of any malt whiskey. The Scottish want us to jump forward 1000 years to John Corr in 1494 who they say made the first whiskey. In this 1000 year gap was the first world whiskeys time of creation. Ageing a malt mash distillate in oak mead barrels is where it all began. Now in new world New Zealand we are going back and have created Waitui Manuka Honey Malt Whiskey.
"No malt blends or additives, only malt mash", explains owner and production manager, Terry Knight. ?The delicate oak gives our whiskey its ?weight? but the distilled malt and ageing in Manuka honey mead wine barrels delivers an almost toffee taste that?s in perfect balance with the malt.?

Mitchell's Glengyle Ltd. are very proud to be continuing and adding to the great Campbelltown Distilling tradition and the choice of name reflects that. Kilkerran is derived from the Gaelic 'Ceann Loch Cille Chaiarain' which is the name of the original settlement where Saint Kieran had his religious cell and Campbeltown now stands.
Nose: oak notes are dominant, followed by toasted marshmallows and dried fruit pudding, as well as cherries, marzipan and a hint of peat
Palate: initially fruity with citrus notes and orange peel, after this: vanilla, butterscotch,
honeycomb and digestive biscuits can all be tasted and enjoyed
Finish: velvet and smooth with lemon meringue, to conclude, there?s an oiliness and a saltiness that you?d expect from a Campbeltown dram
