Bogle is best best known for its big, buttery, Californian Chardonnays so here is the red wine to match - a plush, soft, spicy and dark fruit tasting red made from the ZInfandel grape.

This grape is also known as Primitivo in Puglia, Southern Italy, and shares the same instant likeability of a big soft red for early drinking. It can hold and improve over the short to medium term; up to five years. 

Located in the Sonoma wine region of California, the name Chalk Hill comes from the unique volcanic soil of chalky white ash, which is a near perfect match for the planting of white wine varieties, like Chardonnay. The vineyards quest for quality has always been the basis for all their winemaking decisions.

This wine is balanced and bright with concentrated flavours of creamy lemon custard, poached pear, almond, and spice. Pair this Chardonnay with grilled salmon in a garlic butter sauce.

100% malolacitc fermentation - nine months on the lees in Hungarian oak 10% of which is new and 20% is one year old.

This big, powerful lush velvety red from California is made from one of the most popular grapes in that vast, warm wine region, namely Zinfandel.

The Zinfandel grape is also widely grown in southern Italy where it's known as Primitivo because it is one of the first to ripen (hence, 'primi' for first) and it is grown in eastern Europe where it's called, variously, Tribidrag,  Crljenak Kaštelanski and Kratošija. DNZ analysis has shown that the grapes known by these names are all genetically identical to the Croatian Crljenak Kaštelanski and Italian Primitivo.

"The 2018 Christo is made up of 60% Syrah, 24% Grenache, 12% Petite Sirah and 4% Viognier. Vibrant ruby-purple in colour, the nose offers pure scents of crushed red, black and blue berries, tobacco, violets, tar and smoked meats. The palate is full-bodied and packed full of perfectly ripe, juicy fruit, with a grainy frame and loads of uplift on the finish. (EB)"

California Zin is one of the most satisfying big dark reds on the planet and Sebastiani's is a great example. It's dry, it's full bodied, it's spicy and it's rich in taste. What more could you ask for?

Sebastiani is a winery in Sonoma, founded by Italian immigrant Samuele Sebastiani in 1895, making cobblestones for San Francisco streets to save the money to build a winery. which became highly successful and remained in family hands until 2008 when Californian wine lover Bill Foley bought it to add to his large portfolio of companies.

This is a great full bodied, dry red with power and complexity at an affordable price. Next level Zin, here we come. 

This is a rich, food friendly red wine from Sonoma County, California.

"The Crusher Petite Sirah is a deep, inky color with bold aromas of boysenberry, blackberry, and fig jam. The inviting aromas lead to a medium palate with a core of juicy fruit flavors, toasted hazelnut and baking spice notes. The wine spends 10 months in a combination of French, American and Hungarian oak, giving the final blend a soft texture with fine, well-integrated tannins."
