The Premier Cru Clos St. Jacques in Gevrey‑Chambertin is widely regarded as one of the greatest vineyards in the world. Although classified as a Premier Cru for historical reasons, it is effectively treated as a de facto Grand Cru, and its wines are priced — and respected — accordingly.
Uniquely, Clos St. Jacques is divided among five proprietors, including two of the most celebrated domaines in all of Burgundy, each holding contiguous and equivalent parcels. In a horizontal tasting from a single vintage, the differences revealed are therefore driven by winemaking philosophy.
This tasting offers a rare opportunity to taste all five Clos St. Jacques producers from the same vintage. For context, we will begin with:
2007 Mt. Difficulty Pinot Noir Long Gully
2007 Domaine Faiveley Gevrey‑Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers
2007 Domaine Denis Bachelet Gevrey‑Chambertin 1er Cru Les Corbeaux Vieilles Vignes
2007 Frédéric Esmonin Ruchottes‑Chambertin
We will then taste:
2007 Domaine Armand Rousseau Père et Fils Gevrey‑Chambertin 1er Cru Clos St. Jacques
2007 Domaine Fourrier Gevrey‑Chambertin 1er Cru Clos St. Jacques Vieilles Vignes
2007 Domaine Bruno Clair Gevrey‑Chambertin 1er Cru Clos St. Jacques
2007 Sylvie Esmonin (Michel et Fille) Gevrey‑Chambertin 1er Cru Clos St. Jacques
2007 Domaine Louis Jadot Gevrey‑Chambertin 1er Cru Clos St. Jacques

Azienda Agricola Foradori is one of Italy’s most influential estates, located in Mezzolombardo at the foot of the Dolomites in the Trentino region.
This fifth-generation family winery is synonymous with the revival of indigenous varieties, particularly Teroldego, alongside white grapes such as Nosiola and Manzoni Bianco, and deploys fully biodynamic farming with an emphasis on biodiversity in the vineyard. In addition to wine growing, Foradori produce cheese from their own cattle and vegetables, both of which are sold at their cellar door and supplied to local restaurants.
In the cellar, the philosophy is resolutely low-intervention: spontaneous fermentations, minimal additions, and the use of diverse vessels—including cement tanks, large oak casks, and clay amphorae - to express vineyard character with clarity and texture
The wines range from fresh, vibrant Teroldego, to site-specific cuvées as well as distinctive skin-contact whites.
Join Richard Klein and Blair Fryer in the Regional Wines tasting room as they present the stunning Foradori wines, and discover wines of freshness and texture, with a strong sense of place.
