The biggest and peatiest of Ardbeg's "core" range. The nose is creamy and a little fruity - then the peat bursts through in a massive cloud of iodine and smoke. The palate starts out sweet, with with hot-buttered, toasted sultana bread, bittersweet caramel and burnt honey. It dries out towards the finish, ending with salty ash, dried beef and szechuan pepper.

A brand new addition to the core Springbank distillery range, the Longrow '100 Proof' is made from a selection of refill ex-bourbon barrels that were given a final maturation in ex-red wine casks, as with the previous 'Red' series. A whafting peat smoke and medicinal character leads the nose with a sweet and tart reducrrant fruityness joining in. To taste, the smoke is softer, more earthy and musty, before vanilla custard, strawberries and marzipan add a rounded sweetness. Finishing with a lingering, maritime smoky heart.

Time tested tradition, spiced with a dash of innovation, this is the process we followed in making AMRUT INTERMEDIATE SHERRY CASK SINGLE MALT. Newly made spirit, matured in the traditional way in virgin / ex-bourbon casks and is transferred into Spanish ex-oloroso sherry butts wherein it matures for a year more, gaining an added sherry finish. The finishing touch is thus lent by a further period of maturation in ex-bourbon casks. Result: an essay in elegance with subdued sherry notes that bears the tell-tale Amrut Signature of quality and innovation. A worthy successor to the much-acclaimed Amrut Fusion and Amrut Double Cask.

Nose : Instead of the usual biscuit aroma, we now get moist cake. And my word: is it fruity and spicy!! Love the freshly waxed oak floor, too. Brain-explodingly complex and multi-layered with one of the most intriguing sherry-style-bourbon-style marriages on the market;

Taste : Cracking delivery and entirely unique in form. The structure is decidedly oak-based, but acts as no more than a skeleton from which the juicy sultana and spices drape. Salivating, too, as the barley kicks in powerfully. But the liquorice-orangey-honeycomb bourbon theme quietly shapes the flavour profile; the spices pulse and glow;

Finish : Quite a chunk of natural caramel quietens the more exuberant characteristics; long and elegant.

The heavy new-make style of Aultmore lends itself perfectly to Sherry cask maturation and here is whisky from this very distillery, distilled in October 2011 and bottled in August 2021, that spent its entire maturation in a first-fill Oloroso Sherry Butt made from American (not the typical Spanish) Oak.

Colour: Burnished Copper.

Nose: Creamy mocha, barley sugar, dark fruits and butterscotch.

Palate: Condensed milk, fresh roasted Arabica coffee beans, California raisins and peanut brittle.

Finish: Mouth-filling and sweet with a creaminess that lingers long.

This release from Kavalan's Solist series has been aged in casks which held the sweetest type of sherry: Pedro Ximenez. This is a warming and fruity whisky with notes of juicy raisins and honey syrup.

KAVALAN Solist Brandy Cask matures in selected first fill brandy casks, which give it its sweet and balanced taste. It is unchill-filtered with no added coloring and is bottled as a single cask at cask strength. Each bottling carries a serial number, cask type and the signature of the master blender.

Tasting Note 

Nose: Peaches and cream, strawberry jam, freshly cut passion fruit, creamy toffee, baking spices and warm honey.

Palate: Tinned peaches, oily with dark toffee, toasted nuts and tropical fruits.

Finish: A long finish of stewed peaches, lychee and cocoa.

This 12-year-old Bunnahabhain spent its life balanced between refill wood and fresh sherry casks (roughly half and half), drawing on the best of both: the distillery’s coastal soul sharpened by refill, and its richness deepened by sherry.

This is Whisky Sponge Edition No.100. It’s a 2016 and 2017, 7 year old Ardnamurchan small batch.  

It’s a mix of 1st fill and 2nd fill, peated and unpeated sherry octaves., mixed together and married in a refill sherry butt for over six months until the whole potion turned 7 years old.

Cladach means 'coastline' and this whisky is a blend of Diageo's coastal distilleries; Inchgower, Clynelish, Talisker, Oban, Caol Ila and Lagavulin. As you would expect from so many distilleries, there is a superb variety of casks in the final mix first-fill American oak ex-bourbon casks, refill American oak hogsheads, refill European oak butts and ex-bodega European oak butts. 

The nose is driven by gentle savoury smoke, seaweed and petrichor before citrus, vanilla and caramel all appear and lead you to a palate that is much smokier and offers darker fruits and licorice. A delightful coastal number offered at a robust abv.

The 4th release in the Greedy Angels series, showing that Amrut can do as a 10 Year-Old whisky. A rich, smoky Indian single malt whisky matured for 10 years and finished in an exrum cask, before being bottled in October 2019. Smoky peat and woody spice notes lead to sweet spice and marmalade, moving into cherry, cocoa and sweet vanilla. The palate shows sweet butterscotch, citrus and tropical fruits, followed by camphor, soft smoke and rumsoaked raisins.
