Tasting Note:

 Absinthe is an aromatic, dry and highly alcoholic herbal spirit. It is a bitter liqueur and is best consumed after diluting with water and sugar. It contains anis (Liquorice flavour) and the notorious wormwood plant (Artemisia) as well as optional various other aromatic components, such as peppermint, cloves, cinnamon, (the juice of spinach, nettles and parsley are also sometimes used).

Coonawarra is one of Australia's famous Cabernet Sauvignon regions and home to 100% of the grapes used to make this full bodied, well structured, dry red, which is produced by winemaker Corey Ryan and Nicholas Crampton. They collectively aim to make great value wines that over deliver and shine a new light on classic styles. Martinborough Vineyard has a long and illustrious history as one of the first four vineyards and wineries in Martinborough in the Wairarapa. It was established in 1980 by Kiwis who are passionate about wine, in particular Pinot Noir. 

Today the business is owned by Californian based Bill Foley of Foley Family Vineyards. The winemaker is Paul Mason, who makes this full bodied, dry, creamy Chardonnay from 25 year old vines on the home block vineyard at the winery in Martins Road, Martinborough.

Minerva Vienna is a bottom-fermented beer and red amber, has a faint nutty aroma and clean caramel. When you taste it and savour its distinctive soft sweetness from malt aroma. The termination is durable and mouthfeel is maltose. It is recommended to serve this beer to 6 or 8 degrees. To avail develop less foam cooler and warmer less consistent foam. Serve with sweet and sour dishes as marinated and Minerva Vienna beer refreshes the feelings generated by such dishes, also enhances the flavour of fish and vegetables.

About Greystone

The Greystone wine story began in 2000 when the Thomas Family bought an old sheep farm on the Omihi hills in the Waipara Valley, North Canterbury. The rolling limestone hills lured this family in and their goal was a single minded one: to make great wines from the limestone rich soils here. Fast forward 20 years and Greystone is one of the great (and, some might say, yet to be fully discovered) wineries in this outstanding wine region. Not least due to the work of winemaker Dom Maxwell and general manager Nick Gill, who began working together in 2005 and has grown along with the brand and quality. 

Beautiful big styled Chardonnay with all the bells of whistles. Flavours of ripe citrus, spicy oak and nutty aromas all add complexity to this full bodied Chardonnay, which was aged in French oak to add weight and soften the succulent citrusy acidity in this lingering, flavoursome wine.

About Clearview Estate

Clearview Estate is one of oldest, most well established wineries in Hawke's Bay and is situated on the Te Awanga Coast, south of Napier. It's a great place to visit for tastings at the cellar door as well as lunch in the dappled shade of the established courtyard area. The winery was founded by Tim Turvey, winemaker and co-owner. The current winemaker is the multi talented Matt Kirby.

This tasty pink sparkling Spanish wine comes from Bodegas Alta Alella, which uses the Matar? grape in this wine. This is grown organically, hand harvested and aged for 15 months on lees following the second fermentation. That's the same time frame as the majority of champagnes but this lovely dry sparkling wine comes to us all at a mere fraction of the price. It has zero dosage so it's bone dry in taste and is bursting with delicious flavours, a medium body, refreshing style and a long finish. 

When winemaker Kevin Judd was still head honcho of winemaking at Cloudy Bay, he decided to register the name Greywacke, just in case. 

It turned out to be a foresighted thing to do and the brand has now taken off with his wide and rich experience translating into some of Marlborough's highest quality wines, both white and red - and sweet, as in this half bottle of deliciousness. This luscious Pinot Gris has lots of tasty botrytis, which adds a honeyed texture and rich layers of flavour. Think liquid marmalade and you're on the right track.
