First off we're dropping in with the legends at Mt Maunganui's Mount Brewing, since both head brewers have Polish roots, the idea of a Grodziskie-style Smoked Ale drifted by. Prepare yourself for a ground swell of oak-smoked wheat malt breaking in a frothy wave of carbonation.

Tasting Note: HaziNESS pours like a spring sunset—glowing gold beneath a soft, milky haze. On the nose, you’re hit with a wave of ripe mango, crushed pineapple, and sweet citrus peel, backed by a gentle whisper of fresh-cut grass and soft pine. The mouthfeel is smooth and pillowy, almost creamy, with low bitterness and just enough carbonation to keep it bright. Each sip reveals new layers—peach fuzz, lime zest, and a dash of white grape—as if the flavour’s shifting beneath the surface.

8.2% - Clean Fusion West Coast IIPA

We’re getting the band back together. Sydney’s wonderkids One Drop team up with the Garage for a contemporary West Coast remix of the OG Home, Land & Sea. It’s Canterbury malted barley, wheat and a massive ‘clean fusion’ addition of our favourite hops from across New Zealand, all finished with a touch of Marlborough sea salt. Massive citrus, passionfruit and a hint of sour diesel sativa meld perfectly with subtle salt and clean balanced bitterness. It’s home time.

Easy drinking with vibrant notes of stone fruit and a biscuity malt backbone

We stayed true to this German wheat beer hero and kicked off our brew using an authentic German yeast strain to produce those classic banana and clove characters which Hefe’s are known for. With wheat making up to 50% of the malt base, these flavours and textures combine to make for a really tasty and satisfying beer.  We finish it with just a touch of the mellow Pacifica hops to add just a hint of citrus, floral and delicate spice character.

The Bugle is a lovely session ale, coming in at 3.5%. 

A modern NZ take on the pub ales of old. Built for balance and drinkability, the Bugle is golden in colour, with a soft malt sweetness and a restrained bitterness. It is lightly hopped with a classic blend of NZ Hops which bring subtle notes of citrus and tropical fruit. 

10% - Coffee Cream Crookie Pastry Stout

C is for Crookie. Crookie Monster Pastry Stout. Mounds of decadently delicious Glou Glou baked Cookie Croissants, loaded into the mash along with almost two tonnes of malt, Supreme Coffee, vanilla beans and a touch of salt. It’s a true monster, dripping with sticky sweet caramel, and brown butter, balanced with black coffee and roast malt. It’s good enough for me.

The beer that built a brewery. This is an all NZ hopped English style IPA where the ABV is lower and the malt presence is higher than other more modern counterparts. Orange brown pour with a dense white head and a medley of NZ hop aromas. Some caramel meldanoidins back up this aroma and deliver the toasty, malty palate of the english style. Medium to full body with an assertive bitterness.

5.5% ABV.

This jammy journey of mouth FOMO keeps going! Finding a path in volume 15 is a beery take on one of the most delicious spreads to come across your toast - Lemon curd. The sweet and tart thiccness of this is a perfect pairing with the gentle fruitiness of fresh sliced strawberries to remind you of a summer weekend breakfast. Visually delicious with a soft glowing orange hue the beer delivers aromas of lemon custard with a strawberry edge. Sweet and tart flavours of real lemon curd roll around the mouth with a creamy custard richness to finish.
