A mash up of Belgian Unicorn yeast from Frothtech & a truck load of local Riwaka from Clayton Hops make this unique ale a showy, cloudy summer smasher! Complex herb & fruit salad aromas of banana, passionfruit, capsicum & riesling-like diesel. Biscuity malts bolster smooth bitterness, a smidgen of spice & shiny emerald hoppiness. Medium-bodied yet dry with a pleasing punchy finish, it’s IPA to the max for real beer lovers.

For Jason’s namesake brew, Idaho 7 & Motueka hops make a joyful noise! And like Head Brewer Jason, it’s a hybrid: NZ/American Pale Ale. Soft malt sweetness & masterfully balanced bitterness back up candied clementine through & through for an extended, orange-laden finish. Can you have just one?

This beer is made in the traditional Belgian way i.e. a grist of 40% raw wheat and 60% malted barley, a turbid mash, aged hops, a long boil, spontaneously fermented (the wort is cooled overnight in an open tray allowing wild yeast and bacteria to inoculate it), aged in oak barrels for 2 years and then refermented on Pinot Gris grapes for 2mths before conditioning. The whole process takes about 3 years.
Karamu Grape Ale - pinot gris - is ready to drink after about four months of conditioning. However, although it continues to evolve, it remains great drinking for many years.
It sits between the worlds of beer and wine displaying notes of grain, hops and Pinot Gris. It is remarkably light and refreshing considering the ABV

3.5% - Golden Mild

Look what we made. Chufty Badge, golden mild. Smooth, easy drinking English style ale with just a little twist. Pilsner and dark crystal malts paired with a novel American hop bill of Adeena and Lorien. Horlicks malt sweetness mixed with fresh mown hay, wildflowers, lemon and pine. It’s weird but it works. Do you want a Chufty Badge?

Aged in chardonnay barrels to bring out the white wine, gooseberry, citrus and passionfruit aromatics from the Nelson Sauvin, Hallertau Blanc and Riwaka hops. Finishing dry from the addition of Champagne yeast.

Belgian-style Witbier with light creamy malt sweetness, loaded with zesty aromatics of

calamansi, orange, lime and honeyed-vanilla balanced by a dash of spice and coriander.

KEY LIME PIE IMPERIAL SOUR 8.2%

Zesty, juicy and creamy! Bursting with lime, lemon and tropical aromatics from the Motueka hops and barrels of Key Lime juice, this refreshing beer is balanced by a smooth and decadent body loaded with lactose, oats and wheat and a hint of biscuity sweetness from the malt. A crisp slice of summer!

When the swell’s dropped and the sun’s got that lazy tilt, it’s time to Relax.

Crisp, cool and easy-going, this Cold IPA drifts between pine and ripe pineapple, with a flash of grapefruit to keep things bright. Light-bodied and dry, it slides down smooth – the kind of beer made for sandy feet, salty hair and nowhere to be.

Jasmine drifts gently through the glass, frolicking across the senses with soft floral tones that lift and brighten. On the palate, ripe boysenberry brings a lush, juicy & tart edge, while cacao lingers in the background with a subtle, silky richness. Rather than dominating, each element works in quiet harmony - berry and chocolate complementing, jasmine weaving delicately through - creating a refreshingly nuanced sour with depth, vibrancy, and balance.
